Sorry all – I know I’m a day late with my post, but this girl’s been enjoying her bank holiday weekend! (A little too much – my head is pounding today).
So it’s time for a royal round-up! Admittedly, things have been fairly quiet for the Windsors this week, but nonetheless, there’s always news where those guys are concerned – so without further ado, let’s get stuck in to those news stories that have come up in the last week.
Photos of the Cambridges and The Chelsea Flower Show
Just as I did my royal round-up last week, Kensington Palace went and posted some of the cutest photos I’ve ever seen of the Cambridges; as you all know, they were of William, George, Charlotte and Louis accompanying Catherine to the “Back To Nature Garden” to show her some support ahead of the Chelsea Flower Show.
There really are some stunning shots of the kids playing and enjoying themselves – yes, that includes William on the rope swing as well, who at one point appeared to be enjoying himself more than the kids.

The children were clearly excited to support their mum and enjoyed hanging out together in the garden. Well – until this point:

I particularly enjoyed the fact they were posted on Meghan and Harry’s first wedding anniversary, taking the sheen off the weird, blurry, “unseen” photos of the “big day” that they posted. My favourite is this one, because it perfectly captures the expression of pure “I-can’t-fucking-believe-he’s-actually-marrying-her” from Prince William. Just beautiful.

I don’t think the Cambridges posted it on their anniversary intentionally – they’re not as petty as the Sussexes – but let’s face it, there was definitely subtle shade being thrown. But since Harry and Meghan are adept at stealing other people’s thunder, I figured it didn’t really matter anyway. They know how it works by now.
I also particularly loved the photos of The Queen and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Kate’s Back To Nature garden – especially a little tidbit that someone posted online, revealing that Kate was so desperate to have the garden looking neat and tidy for the Queen, that she was seen stuffing stray twigs and leaves into her designer clutch, as she didn’t want to leave them lying around. So sweet and funny!

Donald Trump’s state visit
As you’ll all know, POTUS and FLOTUS are visiting the UK next month, and it has been announced that Prince Charles will host a state dinner at Clarence House for the Trumps during their time here.
We’ve been told that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be in attendance for this, but it has been said in some places that Harry and Meghan won’t be there – which is just as well, really; if I remember correctly, Meghan likened Donald to “syphillis” once, so probably best to keep her away from the dinner table during that one. I’m very far from being a Trump fan, but it might be good for the royal family to realise that having Meghan there, after vocally voicing her political leanings, might not be such a good idea after all.

I have heard other news that Harry may be in attendance but Meghan still won’t be; but I’m not sure. Most royal reporters seem to think the Sussexes will be absent, and let’s face it, we all hope so: the sight of Meghan in a tiara could have me fetching up my dinner rather quickly. No thanks, love – please stay home with Archie.
Harry’s gallivanting – but where’s Meghan?
So the last three weeks since Archie arrived, I think we’ve seen more of Harry out and about than we have done since the beginning of 2019. For a new father supposedly having sleepless nights, he definitely manages to get around.
The Netherlands, Lady Gabriella Windsor’s wedding, the Windsor Horse Show, Italy for a polo match… he’s certainly been going places.
As for the attention-seeker wife, one does have to wonder what she’s up to these days – besides taking care of a new baby, of course. But for real, does anyone actually believe Meghan is holed up in a cottage in the arse end of nowhere, cooking vegan dinners for her husband and changing nappies?

It came out this week that Doria has now flown back to the USA, and with Harry running around town, no nanny in place and now the grandmother in another country, that effectively renders Meghan totally alone. I’m not sure this is quite what she had in mind when she thought “British princess”.

There were other stories too – a rather big one circulating was that Meghan had been feeling “overwhelmed” by motherhood, and had buggered off to the Clooneys’ country bolthole for the “added support”…
Jesus Christ Meghan, he’s a baby, not a stick of dynamite
If this is true, I’m rather embarrassed for her. He’s only three weeks old, her mum’s been there the entire time up until now, yet she’s already panicking – probably furiously googling “English supernannies” while Archie is left to scream his head off in the next room.ย

On another side of it though, I can kind of see why she must feel that way, if the stories are true. Her husband, for a man who was “desperately excited” to have child, doesn’t appear to have been at home very much since the kid arrived, so Meghan must be fairly pissed off by now. Harry rides bikes in Amsterdam, plays polo in Rome and gets pissed at weddings while she is literally left holding the baby and updating the Instagram? Yeah – not what she signed up for, I’m sure.
Why Harry had such a lax diary for the first four months of this year, yet has now suddenly ramped up the engagements since his son arrived, I don’t know. Maybe he liked the idea of having a kid, but reality has now hit – along with the sleepless nights and screaming child – and he’s looking for any excuse to get out of the house. I’ve no idea. But it’s weird for a father to be away from home so often within the first few weeks of his kid’s life – especially after he announced he was going to take “paternity leave”.

Ok – I’m not entirely sure what he’s taking leave from, but he’s been seen every week since Archie’s birth fairly regularly, so that idea clearly went out the window somewhere along the way.
I have to say, I don’t think Harry and Meghan will ever really be “hands on parents”, because the royals don’t really know what that means.
While Diana loved her boys and Charles was always on-hand for fishing trips and outdoor excursions for William and Harry, they were predominantly raised by the nanny – and I suspect the situation will be much the same for Archie.
Let’s face it, if they’re already scrambling for nannies when he’s only three weeks old, despite being unemployed with a lot of spare time on their hands, it’s not looking too promising.
Meghan doesn’t strike me as having a maternal bone in her body and Harry, while he may mean well, likely doesn’t know what it means to be a “proper” dad. His idea of quality time with Archie will probably be a ten minute cuddle and then foisted back on the nanny. Such is the way with the royals.

In any case, I do look forward to seeing what comes out in the next week and what other little bits of gossip we can squeeze out of the House of Windsor. Are the rumours about Meghan hiding out at the Clooney’s true? Will the details of Archie’s christening be announced? What other country will Harry show up in this week?
Stay tuned – it’s going to be fun! In the meantime – have a fab week all xxx
